A small nursery with a Big Heart

New Beginnings Rainham holds a special place as our inaugural nursery, founded with care by our managing director, Joanna Wilkinson, in 2005. Originally a family residence and later a doctor's office, the space has been beautifully refurbished. We have preserved the warm, family-oriented atmosphere, where dedicated staff interact with children through enriching play experiences and discussions, allowing them to truly appreciate each child's individuality.

New Beginnings has been committed to fostering a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere since it was established. Our nursery boasts three dedicated rooms, each thoughtfully designed to support and inspire the growth of every child. Our outdoor learning area consists of three separate spaces that provide a mixture of surfaces, play equipment, resources and activities for all children to explore

Our holistic approach to early education and care is reflected in the numerous accolades we have received, including being awarded Outstanding for 3 consecutive Ofsted inspections and Millie’s Mark, which underscores our dedication to high-quality paediatric first aid and exceptional care.

Meet our Nursery Manager

Lisa Bray

Lisa was the first person that New Beginnings employed back in 2005. She had experience but no qualifications and she wanted to develop and strive for a career in early years.

New Beginnings invested in Lisa to reach her potential and support her passion for childcare. Lisa has been the Rainham branch manager since 2011 and values being part of a family where being the best you can be is rewarded and encouraged.

She is a special lady with a big heart and will always go the extra mile for the children, their families and her staff team. That's why everyone loves her!

A room for every stage of your child’s development

  • Raindrop Classroom 0-2 years

This room is full of a wide variety of educational toys, books, puzzles, construction resources and sensory materials to stimulate the children’s senses and challenge their minds. For new children starting with us, we focus on building consistency and stability between home and nursery to ensure a smooth transition for the whole family, and a solid foundation for a wonderful relationship to begin between our family and yours.

Every child is allocated a key person who supports them between drop off to pick up. Your child’s key person will be responsible for their individual weekly planning and next steps, as well as helping parents to continue building on what the children have learnt at home.

  • Rainbow Classroom 2-3 years

In the Rainbow room, we have a particular focus on allowing the children to lead their learning using construction, role play, small world play, musical instruments and natural resources. We also introduce numbers, colours and letters to the children in a fun and engaging way. Your child’s key person will be responsible for carrying out carefully planned activities to help them further their learning, as well as build on their social and emotional development.

Of primary importance is a strong partnership with parents to ensure a smooth transition, either as a new starter or in moving up from the Raindrop room. We know that parents are a child’s first educator so strive to provide you with ideas for home, alongside advice and guidance around toilet training and behaviour management.

  • Sunshine Classroom 3-5 years

We take advantage of the children’s ever-growing knowledge to prepare them for their next adventure in school. We fulfil this by instilling confidence, and independence and encouraging curiosity and exploration through their play. We work alongside parents to get their children school-ready by suggesting activities to help with letter and number recognition, phonics and early reading and writing. We are also able to provide advice on choosing the right school for your child.

Parent Communication

New Beginnings nurseries are passionate about the link between nursery and home. We want parents to have the same enjoyable experience with the nursery as the children do. We use our online Tapestry platform to record and upload observations of your childs experiences at nursery. We also encourage our families to upload observations on what they have been getting up to while not at nursery. We have daily updates via our care diaries on this app for children 2 and under, parents are able to see their child's food/bottle consumption, toileting/sleeping information.

We also use our private twitter page to post each day what the children have been learning and exploring that day and week.

Safety & Security

It is very important for all our families to know that your child is safe while at New Beginnings. We have a number of robust policies and procedures in place all of which are avaliable to view on our nursery website. These are followed to meet the exacting standards of Ofsted, building and fire regulations, food safety standards and staff DBS background checks and references.

Our staff are given numourous training during their induction and throughout their time with us at New Beginnings. If staff also wish to further their training in a particular area we can support them with this. We are also part of the Millie’s Mark Accreditation and ensure 100% of our staff are first aid trained.

Nutritious Mealtimes

All of the food we provide our children is prepared on site by our nursery chefs. Breakfast, morning snack, lunch and tea are provided and menus are rotaed every 3 weeks.

We have been awarded the soil assiocaition ealry years soil for life food accreditation for a menus and have taken part in the Healthy Early Years London accreditation and have been awarded bronze, silver and gold.

We pride ourselfs on ensuring children eat a well balanced, healthy and nutritious meals while at New Beginnings.

Key person approach

Every child has an allocated key person, the key person role is to build relationships with your child and observe them to identify how they play, their next aspects of development, what they are interested in to support their learning and development and whether there is any extra support needed for them.

Although all children are assigned a key person all staff within the room take care of them and build strong relationships with them.

Watch us grow

Our 'Watch us Grow' curriculum and its delivery ensures that children make good progress. Their individual identity is valued and our children are kind and caring, while also aspiring to be the best that they can be.
